I need a new one. Have always bought Samsonite in the past but wondered what else is out there? Am I right I’m thinking you can’t fit as much in a hard case?

Thank you.

I have an eastpak which has lasted well and it has a laptop pocket in the lid which is useful for work trips with the laptop or the ipad.

I'm also a fan of eastpak. 2 wheel cases are much easier to pull than the 4wheel ones and have lots of useful pockets too. And a light case doesn't use all your Ryanair weight limit

Rimowa aluminium if you know it won’t be taken off you, Rimowa resin if it might be, or a Tumi, one of the Alpha range if you want to squeeze in the most you can and have some external pockets.

I like the iT bags.

WingBingo · 13/08/2022 16:34

I find 4 wheelers easier and safer because you don’t need to drag them behind you

You can still use as a two wheeler if you so choose.

i just used this for carry on. So easy to move around the airport.

Delighted to see this thread as my iT wheelie bag has just given up the ghost. This time I'd like a hard shell one to avoid that bulging overstuffed look that gets it put in the hold, ext pockets for travel docs and tablet, and small/light enough to meet hand luggage reqs on most airlines. Googling the recommendations above, thank you, and will follow for more!

GreebosNanny · 13/08/2022 16:40

As per PP also here to recommend Eastpak. I have Tranverz Small two wheeled cabin case and can fit 10-14 days worth of clothes in it with shoes/ hair & beauty in my tote bag. Looks new after 4 years, good quality and value for money. I've used it on many outings and the only trips I don't use it for are longhaul work trips over two weeks duration.

MyBottomDecides · 13/08/2022 16:49

😆😆😆 Tumi and Rimowa cabin bags are over £1000! Yeeaaahhh seems a bit overkill for a budget airline hop

No, they are pricy, but not that much. A Tumi Alpha 3 carry-on is about £600, and a Rimowa polycarbonate is about the same.

You’re about right for the aluminium ones.

MyBottomDecides · 13/08/2022 16:59

I probably saw the aluminium ones and didn't linger 🙂

Cabin max cases are great and they are suitable for Ryanair too!

emmathedilemma · 14/08/2022 13:22

I would add that I’ve had a
couple of hard shell carry on bags and whilst they lasted well, the downside for me if travelling with only one item of hand luggage is that they don’t have pockets on the outside so every time you want something out you have to fully open it or carry a small lightweight handbag you can stuff inside before boarding. I think they’re a bit of a faff compared to a soft bag with pockets on the outside.

Caspianberg · 14/08/2022 13:31

Eastpak 2 week here as well. The small xs I think is within Ryanair handluggage. Soft side can be squashed flatter if less full which is handy as can then fit coat ontop of case overhead.
They are like £100 or less on offer so not super cheap, but really reasonable for longevity. The wheels are larger than average so good on bumpy paths

PlanetNormal · 14/08/2022 13:41

I currently have a Travelpro 4 wheeler. It’s the airline industry standard carry on size and I’m very happy with it. It’s robust, expandable, it has plenty of pockets and it’s a nice shade of blue. I got it from TK Max for a fraction of list price.

Neolara · 14/08/2022 13:44

I'm also an Eastpak fan.
