How long should a temp stay down with baby nurofen?

DS Had a temp of 39.3 this morning so gave him nurofen and it came down to the 37s but after two hours it was up again to 38.

nearly four hours later it went back up to 39.4 so we’ve given him calpol and plan to alternate but he’s clearly feeling very unwell (no rash or anything thankfully) and I’m unsure if the fact it isn’t staying down for long is a point of concern.

NHS just says it’s a concern if it doesn’t come down but it has been, it just hasn’t been staying down for long.

I’m having the same issues for the past three nights. Dr told me that all pain relief does is bring temp down but lengthens the virus as body not fighting it. Despite this, I’m still giving pain relief as he’s so uncomfortable. It’s awful when they’re ill, bless him. Have you given them both at the same time? This has worked with us.

We are doing it every four hours and alternating but each one individually doesn’t seem that powerful. Usually works!I have spoken to 111 but they weren’t overly concerned which is good, but still doesn’t make it any better to see them like this does it

hope your little one gets better soon
