Hello, this is my first post so hopefully have put this in the right place
my little boy is 2.5 and last week was given antibiotics for a suspected throat infection. They thought it was viral but told me to keep an eye and if his throat got yellow-y or spotty to give him the antibiotics, which we did at the weekend.
he has got a lot better, still coughing a bit, and his temperature came down but was still higher than usual. He went back to nursery on Wednesday and Thursday and no issues. Thursday his cough sounded a bit worse and same on Friday and he was really really blocked up and snotty.
last night he had a mild fever again and today he’s got a proper one just above 39. He’s eating okay and drinking and chatting, but very emotional and tired.
normally with this I would wait it out and see if he starts getting better himself, treating the feve r with calpol or nurofen if it went above 38.5 or he seemed uncomfortable but im
worried because if he was on antibiotics then surely he shouldn’t pick up something else while he was still on them? He only finished them last night.
I was wondering to call 111 but DH thinks I’m overreacting as he’s okay in himself he just has cold symptoms and a fever.
im so tired from the constant illness and having time off work and worried about my job (we’ve both done our fair share but mine are no where near as sympathetic) that I can’t seem to think straight at the moment.
we had four weeks illness free recently and it was like a miracle but now it feels so much worse as we are literally back to back again. I feel like work don’t believe me half the time and hate seeing DS poorly so often.
