All essential to get done today as moving house in a couple of days .

a huge pile of ironing
finish the last room of packing
start cleaning the empty rooms.
drop off huge heavy book case to charity shop.

already decided the grass won’t be mowed .
dogs are already walked.

im already a sweaty mess thinking of all these jobs that actually require me to move. 😂

Definitely not the ironing.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 12/08/2022 08:31

Packing

mdh2020 · 12/08/2022 08:32

Packing seems to be the most important. I wouldn’t bother ironing if everything has to be packed anyway. Phone British Heart Foundation. In our area they collect furniture or put it outside and someone will take it away.

LionessesRules · 12/08/2022 08:41

Finish the packing, including packing the ironing pile.

Put bookcase on a local selling site.

theoldhasgone · 12/08/2022 09:00

OMG don't iron! Everything will end up creased again after moving.

Pack.

And maybe organise someone to collect bookshelf?

Beees · 12/08/2022 09:03

Forget the ironing, life is too short.

List the bookcase for free on fb marketplace and someone will collect it from your house.

Focus on the packing. Clean the rooms this evening when it's cooler.

Eek3under3 · 12/08/2022 09:03

Ironing is not an essential! I would pack.

Clymene · 12/08/2022 09:05

Packing. Don't iron stuff just to pack it!

powershowerforanhour · 12/08/2022 09:06

Packing. Don't bother ironing just cram it all into binbags ( label them if you're feeling organised).

Footgoose · 12/08/2022 09:29

Oh my goodness yes! Don’t do the ironing before packing it. I’m such an idiot.

book case problem solved . DH took the wrong vehicle to work this morning, it’s in the back of the van he’s driving .

we have put furniture up for free on FB the endless messages and fails to collect did my head in . Just thought easier to drop it off so I knew it would be sorted out in time .

im packing the last few boxes.

Packing. Pack the ironing into a box to do in new house - it's only going to get crumpled en route anyway.

Keep curtains closed on the side of the house that the sun is on. When sun moves around later in the day, open those curtains and windows on the now shaded side and clean the rooms that are cooler (north and east facing). Leave rooms on south and west side until tomorrow morning when it is still cool.

AchillesLastStand · 12/08/2022 11:09

OP do the packing, and get rid of the bookcase, the clothes will get creased in the move.

For the record, today I’ve just come back from doing the weekly shop at Sainsbury’s, I’m about to iron the washing on the line including bed sheets (I know I shouldn’t but I’m OCD about my bedding) and then after lunch I’ll be finishing decorating the living room. I feel like it’s insane amount of work to be doing on such a hot day but family that live a long distance away have sprung a surprise visit on me tomorrow.

Good luck with the move!

MissStress · 12/08/2022 11:14

Packing. Hope the move goes well!

Footgoose · 12/08/2022 14:43

Thanks all . @AchillesLastStand . Blimey ! But I hope you enjoy the visit.
big jobs almost finished.
