Is there such a car as this:

Can drive easily down muddy farm lanes peppered with potholes. Easy to reverse on narrow lanes. Mostly shortish distance driving.

Seats family of 4 (2 adults, 1 baby, one older child). Plenty of boot space for pushchair etc. occasional trips with grandparents so pop up seats in the boot?

Will tow trailer tent and cope with occasional long trips.

Budget of up to 5k. Not bothered about it being fancy- reliable more important and reasonable running costs. What would you buy?

Skoda octavia or superb

Should have said we currently have a Skoda Octavia - it doesn't cope well on farm lanes. The ground clearance underneath is fairly low, and with a tow bar it grounds out even on normal drives etc.

Older Toyota Hilux, not the pick-up model. Ours was fab, super reliable, older Toyotas just run and run.

Oh, just saw you also want boot seats.

In which case perhaps the pick-up model Hilux would work, chuck the grandparents in, they’ll have a whale of a time.

Lol yes they can hold on to the pushchair in the back 😂

Ditch þhe requirement for pop up seats I the back. It is too conflicting with your other requirements. I have a Freelander 2 and it sounds like just what you need. V good ground clearance, extremely capable off road but v car like and comfortable to drive. This is my 2nd and both have been extremely reliable.
