Preschool in morning - activities or chill in afternoon?

My DS will be starting preschool mornings only for a few days a week when he turns 3 after the summer. It is 9.30-12.30 . I was looking at classes/activities and some are on his ore school days in the afternoon. Anyone done similar and do you think he will be too tired to go and it better to chill at home the afternoons he goes to preschool?

We'd go out before/after preschool hours, no problem.
My DS wasn't easily tired though and dropped naps as soon as he turned 2.

Only you know how your DS reacts to being busy and around other children.
Do you think he will enjoy the activities?
Will he get a lot out of them?
So you need to take him to some for your sanity?
I personally don't think you should discard things just because it's on a a pre-school day, but I know people who would.

Wait and see how your DS manages preschool

Why do you have to plan something? If he's lively take him swimming or to the park. Or arrange something last minute,

In time after he's settled into a routine you can work out if he needs more stimulation and planned activities in the afternoons but I bet he'll be tired!! At least initially ....

We didn't usually do much after preschool, my dc both had lunch there then napped when they got home. We might have a bit of a walk or a trip to the local park but I wouldn't have committed to a regular class I don't think.

Depends on the child- my eldest still napped at this age- but now after school is still full of energy when others need to chill. You’ll soon know if it’s too much

Ok thanks all. Sadly napping stopped a long time ago!

Another vote for seeing how he goes when he starts! Mine ended up doing a bit of both: some days chilling at home and some days doing a structured activity. He loves a chill but also stopped napping just before he turned 1 so isn’t a cut and dry ‘active’ or ‘inactive’ child - he likes a balance.

Agree it totally depends.
They have such a busy morning my son sometimes likes abit chill before we do something else, if we do.
Some days if I can see he's still full of energy I'll take him to the park.

We keep other classes/activities for days he's not at nursery

With ds we did park around the corner / chill Mon - Thurs and gymnastics club on a Friday. Occasionally we'd take him to softplay, a friend's house or the beach (we live near the beach) on a Mon, Tues, weds or thus but not that often, mainly saved stuff like that for weekends.
