Help please! I haven't had a job interview for almost 15 years and I have no idea what to wear. Interview will be via Microsoft teams and I will need to give a brief presentation (prob not relevant). Job is a band 6 NHS nurse
Thanks

The same as what you would in a face to face interview.

Which is what? My last interview for was a higher band and I wore a dark coloured business suit and a bright coloured blouse. I suspect that is now dated.

I just wore a blouse on top - civil service HEO grade. Doesn’t matter what’s on your legs unless it’ll help you feel more put together or confident. I agree with you that a blazer and blouse would possibly look a bit outdated now - plus you’ll roast! Sweaty is never a good interview look.

Wear a blouse.

Neat blouse. G-string on bottom half! Smile

Consider how you will look on a screen. You can check by loading Teams and inviting yourself to a meeting.

If you are sitting in front of a plain white wall, then avoid plain white blouse etc. You want to stand out.

When lockdown started, I found that Teams made me look washed out and a bit faded on video calls, so I added a bit of lip colour and eyeliner to create more definition.

In this hot weather, I'd go for a crisp cotton blouse in a colour or maybe a stripe. T-shirt material is too warm and tends to cling to my fat bits 😀 As pp said, pink & sweaty is not a good look.

Low key jewellery and well manicured nails. They won't see the lower half of you so go for comfort.

Remember to lift your laptop - I put mine on a thick dictionary - so the camera is looking at you 'eye to eye', otherwise the interviewer will get a view of the underside of your chin.

Good luck.

I did my band 5 interview on teams - think I wore just a smartish top with a nice necklace, and I did have my slippers on under the desk. Best interview I've ever done - they mailed me the questions 10 mins in advance so I could jot down examples I was going to use but not over-rehearse it, and no uncomfy interview shoes.

Just remembered, one good thing about video interviews is that if you need some reminders of examples of projects you have done etc, you can put a post-it note on the table below the camera, where it can't be seen. 🙂

I recently wore a plain white t-shirt (a nice one) with a pink jacket over the top.

Nothing low necked or showing too much shoulder, you don’t want to look like you’re on a beach.
