Bath to North Wales

Could anyone recommend somewhere nice to stay en route to Conwy from Bath. Hoping to have 2-3 weeks exploring various places in England next year and we're all sorted apart from this leg of the journey. We'd stay one or 2 nights depending on what there was to do. Somewhere half way would.be ideal but not a deal breaker and if there was a National Trust place we could visit near by that would be perfect.

Thank you!

I like Rhayader or Aberystwyth. Hafoka (NT) is nearby, the scenery is beautiful, there are forest walks and the red kite feeding centre.
Aberdyfi is gorgeous too.
We live near Bath and holidayed just north of Aberystwyth last and this year.

Ludlow.
Stoke say castle is on the a49 just before Ludlow it's pretty but think it's English heritage not NT.
There is a fab farm shop on the A49 as well with cafe and gorgeous gift shop will try and find the name.
Other than that Shrewsbury, I think Berrington Hall is a National trust en route

Ludlow is lovely as is Tenbury Wells, the Welsh Marches are a beautiful and historic area, lots of interesting stuff to do and see. Hay on Wye, Monmouth and the Wye Valley are all lovely too. Brecon is good for a stopover but may be a bit off route for you.
