Tempted to leave it up until the weekend to sleep in with the heat. Anyone doing something similar?

have a lovely cool sleep…..
i just felt the bricks on the house outside they’re really warm and it is 23.00 it’s too warm for sleeping

AdoraBell · 10/08/2022 23:18

Hope you enjoy your cool night.

I touched the inside handle of the front door this evening to check if it was locked, it almost burnt my hand.

Where are you that your inside door handle nearly burnt your hand?

Kite22 · 10/08/2022 23:19

Much cooler inside the house, than in the garden, here.

KenAdams · 10/08/2022 23:21

Gosh it's horrific isn't it? I just couldn't be inside tonight, everytime I moved from directly in front of the fan I thought I was going to pass out. I had a medical procedure yesterday which isn't being helped by the heat either.

I was thinking the same thing. 😳

Savingpeoplehuntingthings · 10/08/2022 23:23

I've just come inside. It's lovely out in the garden, I've been photographing the moon, it's beautiful tonight. I contemplated staying out for the night.

TwoMonthsOff · 10/08/2022 23:26

@Savingpeoplehuntingthings
i am on The verge of giving up tbh and sit outside until I nod off at the table

DD and I decamped to the garden during the heatwave last month. Set up base camp in a tent at the bottom of the garden. Slept like logs.

WinterMusings · 10/08/2022 23:31

@KenAdams no I'm not. I would be if I could be though!! Enjoy!!

I hope you recover soon! This time Last year I had surgery & the heat was unbearable! And I could barely move (due to the surgery) and I couldn't shower.

I'm pet sitting for a friend this weekend, she has a lovely comfy outdoor sofa in her garden....I'll be on my own though so I'm not sure I'll be brave enough! (Pathetic when I used to go wild camping by myself miles from the beaten path! Menopause/age/surgery has turned me into someone I barely recognise!!)

ArnoldBee · 10/08/2022 23:32

Hubby has been living in the gazebo in our garden for the past 3 weeks!

hotfroth · 10/08/2022 23:33

My garden is ant central, I'm not sleeping out there.

Mothstoaflame · 10/08/2022 23:59

I went downstairs with not much on and stood in front of the open fridge. It was bliss.

Longdistance · 11/08/2022 00:02

My dd went on a camp last week and they slept under the stars as the tents were easier to pull down the night before. It’s very tempting as we have a hammock in the garden and fuck it, I snore!

abovedecknotbelow · 11/08/2022 00:27

Where are you all that it's so hot? I'm in SE in bed under duvet with window open. Tents are vile things to sleep in when it's hit and you'll be up as soon as the sun comes up unless you've a black out one.

KenAdams · 11/08/2022 08:08

Ours is a blackout one but has a mesh ventilation in too so it's actually lovely and cool.

We slept very well, I might do it again!

I'm putting the tent up for DD1s sleepover. 4 extra teens in the house would make it so much hotter!

Our bedroom was fine (north side) DD2's room on the south side is very uncomfortable. However, that's not stopped DD1 sleeping over in her room. Kids 🤷

Trampoline is a good place to sleep too
