Swollen ankles

I've noticed over the past year that my ankles have been swelling more often than usual. It's particularly bad in this hot weather. My job is mostly desk based and I try to get out for a 4-5km lunchtime walk most days but in this hot weather it's not so appealing.

Does anyone else get this? I have fairly crappy circulation at the best of times (varicose veins recently treated, for example) and it might just be a part of getting older (am mid 40s). But I don't remember my mum having this issue and I'm starting to wonder if I should see the GP.

They go back to normal overnight, I'm generally pretty healthy and fit, maybe a stone overweight but no health problems otherwise. I don't resemble an elephant (yet) but the puffiness is something I'd expect in someone much older!

Following with interest (age 40) and get this too.

I had extremely swollen ankles when pregnant and since I was about 18 they swell in the heat. I also have Reynard's Disease which is linked to poor circulation so I wouldn't be surprised if it was linked.

Glad it's not just me, although sorry that you have it too! My inner hypochondriac started dropping hints about heart failure etc but I really don't think it's that.

I probably need to do more exercisea dn see if it improves. But my motivation is low when it's this warm!

I was Googling earlier and the NHS website said that swollen ankles is a side effect of varicose veins so I inspected my legs and I do have a few... maybe hypochondria is also a symptom 😆😆
