Passport stress

Hi
I only sent son’s first passport off on the 14/07/2022 and documents received on the 18/07/2022. I go away on the 08/09/2022. I understand the passport process is now taking 10 weeks.

I called the passport office today and spoke to someone in Customer services management who states that the examiner has completed all checks and passport is now with quality assurance team who will need to approve it.

Does anyone know how long it should take the quality assurance team to rubber stamp application? I scared by all the horror stories.

Thanks

10 weeks is very conservative sadly, we waited from 29th April to yesterday 12th Aug to get first passport for 15 year old daughter and that only happened yesterday as we contacted the expedited service as she's due to fly on 17th. It's been a week of phone calls, emails and a drive to Newport.
There is no option to hurry applications along for first passports it seems before the 10 weeks are up.
Sadly, her 18 year old sister has not had hers yet and may not get to go on her first ever holiday. It is a shambles.
Hopefully if yours is for a small child it might happen quicker. Good luck.
