I'm wasting too much time on my phone!

I need an accountability thread to help me do more and waste time on my phone less.
Anyone doing the same?

Do you have an iPhone? In the settings you can put time limits on specific websites and apps. You have to put in a passcode to override the time limit, if you have someone you can get to create it to set it up, you won’t know what it is.

I’m sure you can do it on android too but I’m not sure.

Yep me!
I find I stay off phone better the longer I don’t look at it when I first wake.

any tips welcome. It’s an addiction!!

Yes, I have an iPhone. Let's see if it helps. I imagine I'll just end up putting the passcode in and putting my feet up Hmm

You don't need a thread about this (which you'll read on your phone 😂)

You just need to use it less and have other stuff ready to do instead.

Apparently setting your phone screen to be black and white is meant to stop your brain being so addicted - but it didn't work for me.

@DoingJustFine I know. I'm hopeless Sad

I had limits on my iPhone but I would just override it when the limit was up ConfusedBlush

I got my husband to create and input the passcode, I have no idea what it is. He inputs it without me seeing if I need to add or change anything.

Do you have anyone who can create the code for you so you don’t know what it is?

How you doing with your phone?
I did ok yesterday. Just trying to put it down while I’m doing stuff in the day and keep my time on the phone to small chunks

OhTheLeetleHandsAndFeetle · 11/08/2022 08:16

I’m exceptionally fat and lazy, so I find leaving the phone upstairs works a treat. I also left it at home yesterday when we went out, which was really good as I could just focus on family interactions. I also recommend charging your phone overnight in a different room to where you are sleeping, then you are less likely to wake up at 3 am and start twiddling about with it.

Well, I'm on my phone first thing again. I usually pick it up as I have family and friends in various time zones and like to check whatsapp. This then leads to just browsing.

I picked up a book from the library yesterday and have decided to try and pick up the book instead of the phone throughout the day.

Are you contactable otherwise in an emergency (via landline)?

If so, just switch your phone off. I find an iPhone so tedious to wait to switch back on I just don't bother.

ScatteredMama82 · 11/08/2022 08:36

Do you read? Get the Kindle app on your phone so when you pick it up you have something constructive to do.
