I'm flying next week to meet 2 friends on holiday. I've flown in the past but only with my dds, never on my own.

I'd love some tips if anyone has any.

The last time I flew I decided I needed some non-underwired bras as I am forever getting stopped after the walk through metal detector and I wonder if it them that set it off.

Bra wires don't set the detectors off so feel free to wear whatever you like! I would just enjoy the alone time. Buy a nice magazine for the flight. Are you looking for tips on anything in particular?

Is it just the flight that you're worried about? There will be loads of other people travelling alone. They'll all just be normal - all ages, travelling for all sorts of reasons. Take a book in your onboard bag then you can read whenever you're sitting/standing around waiting in queues.

Not worried really, just keen to make things smoother. I'm actually looking forward to the novelty of flying without being responsible for anyone but me.

Kindle is a definite for reading on plane etc. And headphones.

I prefer to doze on the plane but will prob try and avoid that.

Think carefully about your carry on luggage - anything too big is a real pain if you eg want to go to the toilet at the airport as you’ve got no one to leave it with. Ditto if you’re carrying luggage / coat / handbag.

But otherwise just enjoy being able to do what you want on the journey rather than compromise eg on when to leave, where to eat etc.

Check in online as soon as you’re allowed and get a good seat. There are different places to sit in the aeroplane according to whether to want it quiet/ less turbulence/ a quick exit etc… Use the seat guru website to help.

Remember not to put any liquids over 100mls in hand luggage. The number of times I've shoved a bottle of sun cream in last minute forgetting I can't take it through!
