Teenagers are great

DD (14) just came in and complained as she was bored . I suggested that she make dinner and gave her the recipe AND SHE'S ONLY BLOODY DOING IT!

I'm sitting on my arse not quite sure what to do with myself .

She does make dinner sometimes, but I didn't expect she would ad hoc like this !

I'm a single parent. This is like having a really helpful husband (I imagine, never had one).

Excellent!
I love having teenagers. It's definitely my favourite stage. They feed themselves, clear up after themselves, make me cups of tea and even occasionally cook dinner. Plus, they don't need childcare.

They do, however, cost a lot more to run than toddlers!

How lovely of her. You must feel very proud of her.
Well done, Miss Herenow. 🌟

I'm a single parent too.

I have a 19 year old who does all my heavy lifting for me. Furniture, bags of shopping, bulk rubbish to the garden etc. He also catches spiders and daddy long legs for his sister and puts them outside, also stays with her whenever I ask so I can pop out sometimes - she has additional needs. He is patient and good tempered about 98% of the time. He's an absolute superstar and makes my life so much easier just by being another adult in the house ❤️

She's playing music and singing along.

She catches spiders for me too . She draws the line at any weird flying things so I have to get the hoover out and scream a lot while trying to suck it up. There's something huge in our bathroom today that neither of us can face , I'm hoping it will make its way out as neither of us are going to buckle on this one !

That's lovely.
So many threads on MN are from parents struggling with their teens and it's nice to hear about families getting along.
I have a teen DD and she's great. I feel very lucky and also slightly afraid that one day she might turn evil 😂😂
