Why do random zombie threads get reanimated?

Last night a random thread about a neighbour with their heating on was reanimated. The message was just someone responding to the op. The thread was 5 years old.

How does this happen? How do they find the thread? I can kind of see it if it’s someone searching for an answer to a question, but this was just random.

Either innocent mistake by someone new to MN, or deliberate attempt by someone for whatever reason.
A zombie thread is no big deal. Multiple zombie threads are annoying.

That one confused me too!

I get it when it’s someone asking for a recommendation say, as you might be googling ‘what is the best ………’ and end up accidentally reanimating a thread.
But this one last night was just odd.
I don’t really care, I was just wondering what the thought process was.
