Do you ever drive through a different part of the country and wonder whether other Mumsnetters live there and what their lives are like?

Just that really. I holiday around England, Wales and Scotland from time to time and I often wonder if other Mumsnetters live there and how they live. I live in London but this week I'm in Northumberland for a holiday on my own. Its beautiful and everyone is so friendly. I'm walking a lot, touring around and eating of course. Lovely seafood and locally caught fish.

An old work colleague just contacted me and I'm going to catch up with him in the next couple of days. He's kindly offered to show me around for a day. I'm so aware that usually I'm just a tourist when I visit another part of the country.

But I often think about women who might be on Mumsnet as I tour different areas. Do you?

I do op! I think about it on train journeys especially as you can often see into peoples gardens and the back of their houses - same on dark nights.

I wonder what their lives are like, what jobs they do, what their hope and dreams are. Why they drive the car they have and how many kids they’ve got. All of those things.

I'm Scottish, I've just had a lovely short break in Lincoln, a lot of older people about who I was happy to mingle with until I started to wonder how many of them voted for Brexit and or the Tories... Never speculated like that before, made me realise how divided the country has become.

I do this! I travel around the UK a lot and often think of posters who've stayed they live in a certain area or region etc as I pass through

Yes, every single time I go to a new area I wonder what it is like to live there. DH is the same!

In the most interesting places I’ll often look up nearby property prices on rightmove 😳

I don’t particularly wonder whether the people living there are mumsnetters, but maybe I will next time.

No, thats weird!

I don't think about Mumsnetters at all when not actually on it, but occasionally I've had a detour off the A3 through small villages and I think gosh people do live in all sorts of quite isolated places with barely a post office. Very pretty but I think they must all know each other's business and what if they hate each other? Or are they like Midsomer and there's been a murder? Where do the kids go to school? What do they think when suddenly dozens of cars barrel through their peaceful lanes? What's going on behind those rose covered cottages? Is the vicar bonking the village matriarch while her husband works in the City???? Then I rejoin the A3 and forget about it.

Not mumsnetters, no. People in general, yes. And not necessarily in places I holiday. Sometimes looking at people driving past, especially on motorways. Me and my children also have a game of guessing where an aeroplane flying overhead is going, who might be on it and why.
