So I applied for my dream job 2 weeks ago.
I dont have the qualifications on the paper that they have mentioned on the job advert, I applied because couldn't resist !
I was so happy but confused when they offered me the interview, today they rang and said that I have got the job !!!
I am so happy but nervous that they have not seen my cv propely and they made mistake?
They havent questioned my qualifications at the interview either.

I dont know what to do .

How important is the qualification? Eg is it a qualification that is required like in teaching or social work? Or just something they stated as a preference.

I presume your CV is truthful?!

Do you have experience rather than bits of paper?

Johnnysgirl · 08/08/2022 22:30

If they're aware you don't have the appropriate qualifications, there's no issue.
Are they, though? It could bite you on the bum big time if they aren't.

Most of the jobs I do have a set of requirements I don’t meet. “Must be chartered,” etc.

If you have relevant experience and good references, that will often swing it.

LadyHelenaJustina · 08/08/2022 22:32

(My CV is explicit and scrupulously honest.)

GetOffTheRoof · 08/08/2022 22:36

Were the qualifications compulsory or desirable?

Is the job something which absolutely requires the qualifications to legally undertake the work or can it be done by anyone with the appropriate knowledge and experience?

OnTheBoardwalk · 08/08/2022 22:48

What level of qualifications are they? Are they something required and expected for this type of role?

I’ve had jobs over the last couple of years that required only confirmation of my maths GCSE from 30 years (not listed on my cv) and another that only required copy of my last qualification (degree)

I’d be expecting them to ask for proof of qualifications. If you haven’t got them I would have expected you to make it clear at the interview. I reckon it would have gone in your favour

Johnnysgirl · 08/08/2022 22:49

Are you able to say what the qualifications are, op? Without knowing it's impossible to advise you.

QuebecBagnet · 08/08/2022 22:50

It’s not unusual unless it’s a job where you need to be qualified in something. I applied for a job which said PhD essential with only a degree and got it. And also my degree isn’t in the subject I’m a lecturer for, think they assumed it was and they never asked and I never said. 🤷‍♀️

Johnnysgirl · 08/08/2022 22:50

If they're necessary you'll absolutely have to provide evidence before signing contracts.

2pinkginsplease · 08/08/2022 22:53

It all depends if it’s a qualification which is a necessity or whether you can work towards it .

eg an early years worker needs a certain qualification as does a nurse or a teacher or a pharmacist as you need to show proof of the qualification to do the job,

I should have had a degree in economics for my last full time job, I have no degree I left school at 16. I have gained qualifications whilst working but not at degree level.

I did ask why I'd got the job (I didn't even apply, I was invited to apply, I already worked for the company) I was told, I worked hard, could handle people and had common sense.
