Acrylic nails

So (nearly) 14 year old has pestered me for ages for her to get acrylic nails (not the scary long type) but almond shapes ones. It’s her birthday soon so I have relented.

She’s just been invited to go the beach which would be a couple of hours after the appointment.

Is this a crazy thing to do? I don’t want to spend lots of money only for them to get ruined straight away. We will be going on holiday a few days later anyway. But I just don’t know about straight after?

I phoned the salon but with the masks I honestly couldn’t hear properly what she was saying!

Why would they get ruined at the beach? What's she going to be doing?

I think it will be fine tell her to be careful with them but presumably she'll want to be careful with them anyway

No the beach would have no effect on them

Thanks. I just meant she’ll be going in the sea/playing in the sand so wasn’t sure if they needed a bit of time to settle in (have never had fancy nails before). Don’t want them damaged before she gets to enjoy them.

U leave the salon totally ready to go anywhere. They will b literally 'hard as nails'..
Hope she enjoys the experience
My 16 yr old has had them for occasions since she was 14..
They will look lovely..

Thanks so much for the advice. We are nail novices!

I mean, I'd probably suggest not digging in the sand with them.

BryceQuinlanTheFirst · 08/08/2022 21:55

They won't break. She will be fine

They won’t break but I think be careful with sun cream - I think it can cause discolouration. Also, they may feel a bit strange when they’re first done but she’ll quickly get used to them.
