Want to expand my DC's book collection.

Their current favourites are:

4 year old: Julia Donaldson books, We Are Going on a Bear Hunt, The Tiger Who Came to Tea, Dogger, Burglar Bill, Some Dogs Do, You Choose

1 year old: That's Not My Books, Dear Zoo, Spot the Dog books, Each Peach Pear Plum

Any suggestions welcome 😊

I do the bedtime book with both my DCs (1 and 3.5). the most successful ones that entertain them both are lift the flap with interesting stories - Sea Lights by Ruth Symonds and Carolina Rabei is beautiful.

The "make believe ideas" ones go down well too - "never touch a dinosaur" or "never follow a spider" - little one likes playing with the different textures and big one laughs at the jokes. Also there's a kids edition of jabberwocky which they love because of the silly voices.

Any of Chris Haughton's books.

They are available as board books or large picture books so work for either age.

They are delightfully illustrated and just nice stories.

DS absolutely trashed a couple of his (im gutted).

They are my go to purchase for kids that age for a nice gift.

Supertato series
Hairy McClary series
Oi Dog series
Fox in Sox (more for the young one but the older one will sit through it.)

Then getting on to another interesting aspect - the 4 year old "reading" to the 1 year old. These usually work with nursery rhymes books, including song lyrics. We were given What a wonderful world, for example, they love reading this together.

All the best
