Body pump

Going to my first body pump class in years tomorrow at the gym. Do I need to take a towel? I can't remember. Don't want to look more like a newbie than I have to!

It’s fine to take a towel. I find them very sweaty.

Ok great, thanks! I didn't want to be the only one carrying a towel around.

Remember to leave plenty of time to find a spot and set up all your weights, take a drink, good luck!

Get there early. Get a wide variety of weights out so you aren't trying to lift too heavy but can do quick changeovers. Do let the instructor know you are new for extra prompts at changeovers and weight guidance. Go light and aim to learn the routine and remember the swing of things-so that in your next class you can worry more about challenging yourself.

Water!

I dont take a towel but some people do. Get there early to set up a bench and to get a selection of weights. Take water.

I take a small towel mainly for hygienic reasons, when I have to lie down on a gym mat etc . Love body pump, always feels so good after !

I do take my own mat but not a towel

Ah body pump is such a great intro to lifting weights, you’ll love it

Id say go light on the first go, don’t bother changing the weights over too much, just concentrate on the choreo and keeping up with the class. Probably keep 2.5 on each end, double up for squats but otherwise keep as is, just for the first class. You can then increase weights in subsequent classes

make sure to tell the instructor you’re new and to make sure they can see you
