Hello,
We have tickets to the morning athletics session tomorrow. It kicks off at 1000 but when we booked the park and ride they said to get there for 7-7.15 which seems ridiculously early. Have a 9 month old baby and don’t really fancy walking her around the stadium for 3 hours if can avoid it! Has anybody else used the park and ride, and if so do they continue to do shuttle buses or is literally one at 7am? Or any suggestions as to what we could do? Thanks

Thete are lots of buses, but they do ask that you are in your seat half an hour before start in the stadium.

Venues open 2 hours prior to starting.

Also the later you leave it the longer it will take to get through security and at some venues this has taken 40 mins at least, especially at sell outs/ big crowds. I expect tommorrow morning to be very busy.

When you booked it weren't you asked to choose a specific time slot? I booked a 8-8:15 shuttle bus for a 10:00 start specifically so I wouldn't be waiting around too long at the stadium for the athletics to start. They were clear that if you arrive at the car park outside of your chosen time slot there may not be room to allow you on the bus...

We went today to the jaguar Land rover one.
No one checked our time which was 8am.
We arrived at 9am and parked got on the shuttle and got to stadium for 9.30ish.
I think they have done the times so everyone doesn't arrive at same time.

This will be because people booked the later buses any the time of booking the tickets.

There are plenty of buses 10 - 20 mins apart.
Was very well organised

The buses go pretty much constantly and we had a great experience with the park and ride set up for the Games. However, depending on the level of security check for your session you may be queuing for a long time to go through security and ticket check. We went to two sessions earlier in the week, and arrived at the stadium a similar ish time before it started. One time we were through security within about 10 mins then the other we were queuing for almost an hour. When we got to the front they apologised and said it was because they were having VVVIPs in that session so they were being even more thorough than usual (watches off, pockets checked in all jackets put through the machine, bags emptied out completely, asking people to drink some of their liquids etc) whereas the previous day it was much less intensive even though it was the same armed forces doing the check.

I'd rather be in the stadium earlier with a baby and be able to feed, change etc more easily than if I were in a queue for an hour to get through security. You will also need to find the buggy park to leave your pushchair so I'd highly recommend taking a sling to transfer baby into if you're not already doing so.

Great thanks all, we’ll aim to get there for 8 then. There was no other option except the early one. Looking forward to it!

Yeah we’re leaving the buggy in the car and she’ll just be in the sling. Didn’t really think about how much wriggling she would do at 9 months when we bought the tickets in January! No more sitting quietly on your lap

Just to update - got to park and ride for 8, they quickly checked our ticket, no mention of timings. Straight onto a bus and straight through security. Very quick and well organised.
