When you get food interview vibes are you normally right?

I had an interview yesterday, it went really well and I felt I had a great report with the people interviewing me. I do feel quite confident ( and this is the problem) have you ever been fairly sure you have done well enough to secure job but then not got it? I dunno if my gut feeling is off but I'm nervous incase I'm disappointed in the end 🙈

I always know within the first few minutes I have the job or not. I've never been wrong. Good luck OP🍀

Thank you siren. I don't want to sound cocky but I do think it went well. I really hope I'm right.

Yes, I can recall 3 interviews I had last year for three different jobs that I thought went really well then I didn’t get the job. The job I did get, I felt the interviewers gave nothing away and I was unsure afterwards how I felt it went. I don’t think you can tell.

Opened to find out what a food interview was 😂

Good luck

Adversity · 05/08/2022 13:46

I was thinking you meant meeting a delicious food.

I knew I was going to get a job once, I did not want it but was relocating. I stayed for six years. Big mistake but the perks of the job were amazing.

HauntingScream · 05/08/2022 13:48

It's always been the case that I've always got the job when I had a good feeling but more recently, as I've got older, it doesn't seem to work out that way.

firefly123 · 05/08/2022 13:49

I applied for a job I thought I would easily get. Had all the experience and felt the interview went really well. So surprised when they turned me down!

nervynancy · 05/08/2022 13:49

Really mixed bag of responses here. I'll not hold my breath then

I'd say the opposite actually.

Last two jobs I got, I didn't feel I'd done well at all.

Ones I think I've done well I always seem to get pipped at the post or lose.

I don't bother trying to predict the outcome any longer.

Triffid1 · 05/08/2022 13:58

I think feeling you connected is a good first step but not a guarantee. They might like you the most but decide they want someone with different experience. The people interviewing you might want you but another person makes the final decision. You might be too expensive. They might cancel the entire job...

All of the above are examples in my job seeking history. 🙂

Anjelika · 05/08/2022 14:02

I've had 2 interviews that spring to mind where I came out thinking the job was mine but I was wrong.

FrogsOwls · 05/08/2022 14:04

Complete mixed bag.

A couple of jobs where I felt pretty confident they would offer it to me.

A couple where I felt I was crap in the interview, but got it.

A couple where I was certain I was a good fit but wasn’t even invited to interview.

Yazoop · 05/08/2022 14:11

I think it is hard to tell - you could do a wonderful interview but you don't know if there is someone else who has done equally well or slightly better. But it is definitely a good sign if you think it went well!

There are times where it is hard to tell either way, but I think you do know when it has gone terribly - so take comfort that you feel good about it, as it means at the very least you've likely equipped yourself well!

Spudlover · 05/08/2022 15:38

I often get the job when I think I’ve done really badly! I had one recently, thought it was a disaster but got the job.

it’s hard to tell. Sometimes it genuinely did go really well but for someone else it was better.

Fingers crossed OP.

Anotherdayanotherdisappointment · 05/08/2022 15:52

I know when I've done well or not, but I don't know how well other candidates have done or whether I was best or second best.

SavingsThreads · 05/08/2022 19:25

You can't possibly know as the person after you could be better! Getting a job isnt just about how good you/your application is, it's about how good the field is!

Northernsoullover · 05/08/2022 19:30

I had an interview today. I knew I did really well but I also knew who the other candidate was and I didn't stand a chance. It was the right choice though. I didn't actually want the job. The last two interviews went really well too but I didn't get those either. They went to people already in the department.
Sometimes you really don't stand a chance.
