He has been found to have misled MPs on eight occasions apparently. Where are all the posts about this, if it was Boris now ...

Maybe because the standards commissioner investigating said this…

Ms Stone noted that the “breaches were minor and/or inadvertent and that there was no deliberate attempt to mislead”.

Hardly the same as partying through the very lockdown you imposed!

Lockheart · 05/08/2022 12:32

Johnson has actually also done the same thing on at least 2 occasions. There was less hoo-ha about it because it's a relatively minor offence in comparison to his breaking of the law and his outright lying.

You do realise you've made yourself look ridiculous.

No comparison whatsoever. Daft thread to start.

Sir Keir Starmer has declared earnings late on 8 occasions.
Boris Johnson has lied to the House of Commons and the country on far more, lied to his wives probably in the hundreds of times.

StrawberryPot · 05/08/2022 12:40

You're seriously comparing this with what Boris has done?!!!!! Confused

Rilokiley · 05/08/2022 12:50

Ridiculous post. You’re comparing someone who declared some things late and someone who deliberately mislead, lied and even broke the law multiple times. Sad that tories will cling on to these minor blips rather than hold their hands up and admit the party have run the country into the ground.

Ethelfromnumber73 · 05/08/2022 13:22

Presume the 'Sir Keir Starmer' is to signal that he's one of the elite, unlike 'Boris' who's one of the lads eh OP? The Daily Mail and the Sun do this too. Pathetic

thereisonlyoneofme · 05/08/2022 14:43

Erm he is Sir Keir Starmer, I was politely referring to his correct title.

This thread is the equivalent of beergate, desperate and pathetic.

Jalisco · 05/08/2022 14:58

I'm no fan of Keir, but really? - I am in the "you are being ridiculous" camp. Not even the investigators thought it was important. I guess, OP, you have never, ever been late with anything? It's like comparing returning the library book late with burning down the library.... One is a minor inconvenience, the other is illegal.

TheStarsDontShine · 05/08/2022 15:08

Add in Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson trying to procure jobs for his friends and now family, bjs in his office, lying to the queen, illegal partying and supporting sexual predators, amongst a very long list of other some serious actions; I don't think the two can really be compared

Nietzschethehiker · 05/08/2022 15:29

Yeah this is trying to jump-start a bandwagon with a wet fish. I am actually not a big starmer supporter at all and I'm not quite as a big believer in flogging Boris as most of MN (although I'm no friend of the tories right now) and I can recognise that you are trying to spin this.

Yes he did but as above it was clarified very openly that this were minor and he has changed procedures to prevent them occurring again.

You are trying to create a drama either because you haven't actually understood this properly or to attempt to twist it. There is enough rubbish being spouted by politicians currently no need to add to it for some wierd attention thing.

Nietzschethehiker · 05/08/2022 15:34

I don't think anyone really thinks Starmer is an angel who has never done anything wrong and thank goodness. We saw what creating an angelic personality cult around a labour leader got us with Corbyn. Even before the various issues came out with Corbyn it was concerning that so many people thought he was the reincarnation of the Dalai Llama or something. So much so some of them still insist the vile anti semitic behaviours couldn't possibly have been known about.

It's far more realistic to realise that they aren't perfect. The more intelligent realise there is a dramatic difference between the tories abhorrent flagrant abuses of power and the issues raised with Starmer, that have been apologised for and fixed.

Accountability is not about perfection it's about being held to the same expectations as the public would be. He has been. Accountability is far more important than pedestal worship.

BJ has broken laws, lied throughout his whole life, has gone AWOL during multiple crises, etc etc. If you’re comparing that with pretty minor stuff like this, then there’s not much I can do for you.

Nothing at all polite about your post, and you know it.

AndreaC74 · 05/08/2022 15:45

@thereisonlyoneofme You have begun your thread with a blatant lie, he wasn't found to have misled MPs 8 times at all.

Your just another Tory troll.

thereisonlyoneofme · 05/08/2022 16:43

Er No Im not a Tory, just get fed up of the constant Labour can do no wrong Tories can do no right. Thankyou and goodnight.

Ah - then you were being rude in referring to Boris rather than Mr Johnson or the PM then?

This. It's a non-story.

In any case, you are wrong in saying that he "misled MPs". He failed to declare stuff within the requirements timelines, but the standards commissioner specifically stated that they were minor breaches and that there was no intention to mislead.

They were administrative errors, essentially. Boris has made exactly the same type of error but there was no big deal made of it.

But you carry on spreading misinformation if you want, dear. Nobody is buying it.
