Pet sitting payment!!!

We are going away at the weekend and having two friends stay for two nights to look after the dog and two cats. I have no idea how much money is a reasonable amount to give them??? They are close friends of mine.

We're then going away for a week and DP's brother and his girlfriend are staying for a week, again to look after the pets. What would be a reasonable amount here? It's kind of a break for them as they still live with their parents😅

Just no idea how much to give!

Our offical
insured and dbs checked pet sitter charges £16 a day for two visits to feed the cat and chickens. I know she used to do overnight stays with dogs for £30 a day. Just to give you some kind of idea what they charge. Since your ones are having a little holiday of their own without parents The I’d give them less than that!

I’d maybe give the friends £50 for the two nights and the brother £100 for the week.

My relative pet sits for me and I pay roughly £150/week. They don’t ask for it but I’m very grateful for the live-in care and think it’s only fair. I based this figure on the fact that a local pet sitter to pop in for 10 mins a day costs approx £15 per visit.

Perhaps look at Pawshake or other pet sitters local to you and work out something that seems fair from the prices quoted.

I paid my dog sitter 20 per 24h. I think that's fairly normal up north, in London though my friend pays 40 per 24h.
