Anyone had an ablation?

I’ve got one scheduled for next month, under a general. Can anyone tell me what the recovery is like? I haven’t had a general as an adult so I know that’s a bit of an unknown. DH works shifts and is due to be on a late shift the day after. Is it likely I’ll be up for a slow half hour walk to collect the DC from club the following day? Or should we plan that he might need to be off or working from home the following day too?

Yeah I did about 5 years ago. They did it under a general anaesthetic
I found it all ok. Probably best to have a week of rest after tho.- I didn’t because no
one told me to. Had the op on a Thursday was pretty much ok by the Monday/ Tuesday. I took ibufrofen and that was all I needed
You will be uncomfortable and there was some discharge

but. Best . Thing. Ever

You'll be fine. I had mine under sedation at noon on a Monday and did a spin class at 9am the next day. You might have light spotting but if there is pain it's minimal and paracetamol will help.

Where are you having the ablation?

Cotherstone · 04/08/2022 21:12

Ok, maybe I’ll tell DH to put his work on a warning that we might have to play it by ear the next day.

@IroningBoardz, because heavy periods are causing pretty severe anemia, why? Is that likely to affect recovery?

I only asked where so I could offer advice on recovery. You didn’t mention in your OP and I thought perhaps it was a cardiac ablation, which I’ve had done myself.
