Am I imagining this memory - ‘cow and gate’ forest?

Reading something online about naming trees after deceased loved ones and said to my sister, that’s vaguely familiar .

I’m convinced my parents named a tree after me in a forest in England when I was born, I’m sure I had paperwork with ‘cow and gate’ formula branding it on plus a map and tree number . Long, long since lost .

I’ve zero idea where the forest is, google isn’t throwing up much results . Would have been 1991-1992 .

Sister thinks she remembers the same . Sadly one parent now very seriously unwell and wouldn’t be able to tel me, and the other I’m not sure would remember at all !!

Does anyone else remember this or am I imagining things? It would be interesting to find out where the forest is !

I don’t know but I hope you find out! Sounds lovely

Have you contacted the company that makes Cow and Gate? They might know.

I’ve just rung them, they’ve taken my details and they’ll see if anyone remembers . Google says there is a forest (Dalby Forest) with a bit called Cow and Gate plantation which sounds promising .

The more I think about it I can picture the certificate with a map for finding the tree . Think it was just numbered, I don’t think it’s got a plaque or anything . I’m convinced it was cow and gate and not SMA or anything .

Oh brilliant - thank you 😊

That does sound right, definitely . I’m tempted to look through my paperwork for the certificate now but 99% convinced it was lost or binned a long time ago . That definitely looks right though. Thanks so much !

I’m 4 hours drive away - so will need to plan a trip one day to visit .

I also found this discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/4eaad928-8d98-4aaf-86e3-4c4dd5083f04 though frustratingly just the record of the flyer not the actual thing, but it all sounds right.

Oh I love the internet, googling more that section of the forest still exists - under the same name - and there’s an information board explaining it - very recent photo on Twitter . Looks a lovely place . Google says there’s a map of the plantation held under national archives somewhere too . I doubt very much that they can tell me where ‘my’ tree is but at least I know that’s somewhere I could visit and remember my parent in the future .

Cross posted - that’s the same records I’ve just found - thanks so much 😊 ! Delighted that it still exists and that sis and I weren’t imagining it .

It's in Kent I think. We have a daughter born in 91 and we were part of the promotion.

Our last chick has flown the nest and I'm having a clear out with a view to downsizing. I found these documents and can vaguely remember doing this for my son who was born in 1991.
I found this post during a Google search, but I can't find any other information.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, I remember the promotion.

The ex didn't go for it because his Mum didn't approve of formula milk.

I used cow&gate in 1991 but have no recollection of this
