What do you take on a child-free picnic? Something nicer than the standard sandwich, but need to carry everything ourselves.

Crusty bread, cheeses, Parma ham, champagne

What sort of fancy pudding? It'll be 34 degrees and we'll be doing a sport activity, so don't want to take alcohol.

Strawberries. A nice loaf of bread or (depending on logistics) baguette. Cheese, ham and pate/crab meat. Some butter. Fancy éclairs or other cream cakes for pudding.

DD, her partner and I had a picnic at the local forest/sand dunes/beach recently, which comprised roast chicken legs, Scotch eggs, green salad, quiche, grapes, sandwiches, and a Sicilian lemon tart with Tayberries from their garden. And very nice it was too, sitting at a rustic wooden table under tall Scots pines and birches, with a jay chattering overhead.

Will things like chicken and brie keep in a bag when it's so hot (and the bag is in the sun all morning)?

Charcuterie board and accompaniments like olives etc any thing that won't give you annoying sticky fingers
