Do you ever write a reply on a thread and delete it before posting?

I feel like I am constantly typing out replies and then deleting them. Usually it's because I'm being unnecessarily bitchy or it's something that isn't worth an argument. I can't be the only one who does this right?

Yes I do that sometimes, what looks ok could be misconstrued in a million different ways so best not to bother. Or even I do reply then I realise I don't actually care and just hide the whole thread straight after. Grin

Yes, I do this.

Enb76 · 04/08/2022 14:12

Yes - and done it today. I do it either because I'm not going to add anything to the conversation, because I find myself being insufferably smug and holier-than-thou or because I sound like an idiot. Sometimes it's a combination.

Probably more times than I actually post.

Amazing that so many do this and the place is still full of aggressive posts Grin

Yep. I write a reply then think 'this isn't really adding anything that hasn't already been said' so delete it. Or I go in to much about something similar that's happened to me but also think it might not be helpful.
I often want to write something sarcastic (especially for those 'my DP insults me, is addicted to porn and gambling and doesn't have a job but is good to the kids - should I leave him'?) but again I guess if someone is really struggling then pointing out the bleeding obvious isn't helpful either.

Often.
Either I think no one will be interested in what I have to say/ I given too much personal info or my opinion won't be too popular and it's not worth an argument.
These days I mainly tend to post factual type stuff in response to someone asking for information.
