Simple things you've just discovered that make life a little easier

I am a good few inches taller than a friend I am staying with. At home, I never adjust the height of the shower head as DH and DC are taller than me, and it didn't seem to matter. But having it a few inches lower just above my head at my friend's has greatly reduced the time it takes to rinse shampoo and conditioner out of my hair.

I posted this one on another thread recently but worth repeating:
I'm a fairly frequent flier but only recently realised that putting all the things you need to take out of hand luggage and put in the tray at security (liquids/kindle/tablet etc) in a carrier bag inside your hand luggage makes it so much easier to juggle, and you're less likely to miss something .

I appreciate that neither of these things are going to tackle major world problems and may be things everyone does already but I'd love to hear other similar 'discoveries'.

I always do something that tomorrows me will thank yesterdays me for
my uniform is packed for work, breakfast and my clothes laid out in the evening so I can just stagger out of bed and not have to think about it

i have a brightly coloured purse in my black handbag-if it was black,I’d never see it when it comes to pay for something

my keys are pinned to my bag on a chain so I don’t have to stand on my doorstep, dying for a wee while trying to find my house keys

Frozen chopped onion. Takes a few minutes off dinner prep and your bin smells a lot better without onion skins in it, they really stink, especially in hot weather.

Oh yes totally agree with that one, and a brightly coloured phone cover for the same reason!

Back when we were all rushing out the door in the mornings (pre-covid), I used to clean up after dinner, and leave out things for breakfast, make lunches for work/school and put those in fridge, repack school and work bags etc and prep for tomorrow's dinner (peel veg, take meat or precooked meal from freezer etc) before I sat down to relax in the evening. Sometimes I wouldn't do breakfast things until we were getting ready for bed - but they were always ready for mornings and I knew I had cereal etc before the shops closed. They always helped a speedier and less stressful morning, and the dinner prep meant I could walk in the door and give half my head to the retelling of the day and getting homework organised while getting dinner going in a hurry.

I keep a bathroom spray and a couple of clean cloths in the upstairs bathroom, so I can give it a quick clean when I see it rather than needing to go find them downstairs with the rest of the cleaning things, and just throw the cloth in the dirty laundry when I am done (or bring it straight to the washing machine when I am going downstairs). I have another bottle of bathroom spray downstairs for the downstairs bathroom.

When I make crumble topping for dessert, I make a reasonable sized batch (about 3 crumbles-worth) as it is not much extra effort to making enough for 1. I freeze the spare, as it is then very easy to pour out when I want to make a fast dessert and it cooks from frozen no problem.

Some great tips, thanks all.

Another one from me: I rarely iron bedding but if it looks particularly creased or if we're having visitors, I put the bottom sheet on the bed and then iron it,. I also iron the quilt cover once I've put it on the quilt, again on the bed rather than on the ironing board.

I've taken to to cutting most meat and fish with scissors rather than a knife. So much quicker.
