These little bugs keep appearing in our mugs.. what are they?!

They started appearing so we cleared out the whole cupboard, threw the sugar away and put them all back now a month later they are back.

Cupboard contains tea / coffee (in original packaging), sugar (in a Tupperware), cereal (in original packaging.

What are they and how do we get rid please???

Are they little fruit flies?

Have you checked your flour? They look like the mites you get in flour. We had them once and I had to literally chuck all foods (we were away for a week and they got everywhere) and then empty all cupboards and bleach everywhere. I would suggest a very, very deep clean of cupboards, mugs, glassware and utensils.

Thrips?

PickAChew · 04/08/2022 07:30

Look like flour mites. Time for a good chuck out and cleaning sessiom, I'm afraid. We got them from some barley from a farm shop (the pack was crawling, when we found it) and it took over a year and a large investment in lock n lock to eradicate.

They look like those tiny flour weavles. We had them in flour which then got into the walls. Put all foods in sealable tupperware containers and jars. Quarantine flour in a freezer for 48 hours when bringing into house. Apparently they don't like bay leaves, so lay sprigs in cupboard. Rinse cups before use and store upside down.

Oh jeeze, thanks guys. Flour is over the other side of the kitchen.. could it still be causing it? I'll check that asap when I get home...

I keep flour in the fridge in lidded boxes. Never have weevil problems and flour works as normal.

Weevils.

This is why I now keep all opened dry goods - especially flours and grains- in kilner jars.

You'll need to chuck the lot and give the cupboard a good clean.

Thunder bugs, we get them as our house is only 30 yards or so from farmers fields. Pretty harmless but the little buggers get absolutely everywhere.

Onlyhereforthebatshitneighbours · 04/08/2022 08:15

Nooo, thunder bugs are these and called because the generally appear in the run up to rain in the summer
