Passport question

To cut a long story short, just realised that DS passport has his name misspelt. It is due for renewal in March... I was thinking about just renewing it rather than attempting to correct the old one but was wondering whether the process would replicate the error... anyone know?

I think you have to apply for a renewal anyway but then to change the name as part of the renewal you have to send in two forms of evidence.

Thanks @imnottoofussed . The interesting issue is that his driving license is spelt wrong as it was based on his passport!... and he doesn't have many documents as he is 17... I'll have to have a think.. bank statement maybe or exam certs

I'd recommend calling the passport office to get their guidance. They're usually helpful in my experience. The process for correcting errors/typos might be different than that for name changes.
