If you could live in (or near) Chelmsford or St Albans, which would you choose?

Thank you for all the comments.

DH has a strong preference for living in a village (and I’d be open to that too) so it may be more a case of living nearby - perhaps Ingatestone near Chelmsford or Wheathampstead near St Albans. Both similar ish prices, Ingatestone has the advantage of a station, but I have a slight preference for a non grammar school area.

St Albans is nicer but correspondingly more expensive.

Ingatestone is quite nice. Chelmsford has o e grammar school but Essex isn't really a grammar area and most pupils go to comprehensive schools.

Chelmsford had some beautiful villages and parks. The commute to London is easy. The schools all have good reputations. Plenty of sports on your doorstep

BitOutOfPractice · 06/08/2022 18:46

Ingatestone is not the the only place with a station near Chelmsford. Disclaimer: I live in Chelmsford city centre
