I've been in marketing for about 14 years now, mainly B2B but in a number of sectors. I've always wondered about freelancing but haven't had the bottle to try it due to not having the benefits associated with being employed. As I am now a mum, the flexibility of it does appeal.
Would really like to pick people's brains if any freelancers out there wouldn't mind? Has it been a struggle to get established/generate the income you need? Is it stressful not always knowing who your next client will be (or if you'll get one at all)? What do you do about your pension? Do you charge by project or hour? Did you start off by taking work alongside your main job at first or did you just take the plunge?
Any other general thoughts and/or pros and cons would be really interesting as well. Should you only go for it if you really have a niche or unique skillset for example?
Thanks in advance :)
