I was just driving behind a car that...

..had a dog poo bag dangling from the rear wiper.

I can only imagine the owner flung the offending item into a bush or something and some kind soul has returned it to them 😆

Or perhaphs they hung it there while they changed their shoes etc then forgot about it.

bloodywhitecat · 02/08/2022 19:31

Not necessarily, DH used to do that to bring the dog poo home to throw it away (or he'd hook it over our towbar), we never lost one and it stopped it from smelling the car out.

eosmum · 02/08/2022 19:31

I put ours there if there is no bin available. Dont want it in the car on a hot day.

hedgehoglurker · 02/08/2022 19:32

Or, they attached it to the exterior of their car as no poo bins available and didn't want to leave it inside their hot car to stink. Went on their walk, then forgot to bring it into car for the journey home.

megletthesecond · 02/08/2022 19:35

Possibly my sister. She's done this. Forgets to bin it.

Twillow · 02/08/2022 19:36

Thank god.
Thought you were going to say they were driving at 56 on a 60 road...

CuttedUpDress · 02/08/2022 19:39

To be honest I never thought about that.

My theory is more fun but the other is much more feasible.

It's really common where I live. Even the police dog handlers do it.
I think it looks horrible, and also worry if they are as dippy as me, what happens if they forget and use the back wiper!
I guess they just don't want the smell in the car, and whilst I don't like to be stuck behind a car with a dangling poo bag, I'd rather that, than them leave it in a hedge/path etc....

MissConductUS · 02/08/2022 19:42

Would it be excessive to ask for a diagram? 😀

Baxdream · 02/08/2022 19:48

I do that 😂 in fact I did it the other day when we'd been for a pub lunch. Made the kids laugh when I reversed and it was on camera 😂

actiongirl1978 · 02/08/2022 19:50

We tie ours to a wing mirror if necessary.

It's really normal.

Isaidnoalready · 02/08/2022 20:00

My neighbour had one on her car all through lockdown 1 and a bit after (we noticed on our daily walk then we passed it on the way to school) I don't know why they left it there for bloody months there was a skip on the driveway next to the car it could have been sorted in a second baffling

Wheresmywoolyjumpers · 02/08/2022 20:02

It never occured to me to do this - what a good idea! I hate stinky bags in the car!

toastfiend · 02/08/2022 20:07

I always do this. There's no dog poo bins where I walk my two and I loathe driving home surrounded by the gently wafting fug of dog shit. Attaching the poo bag to my rear windscreen wiper means I can dispose of it at home without being able to taste it on the air. Your theory does explain why I've had a few people wind down their windows at roundabouts to inform me that I've got a bag/bags of poo attached to my car, though.

🤣

VerifiedBot2351 · 02/08/2022 20:13

My friend does this. I think it’s weird.

MissConductUS · 02/08/2022 20:14

Thanks, OP. Lovely diagram.

StillMedusa · 02/08/2022 20:24

Yep I do that if I've been out and there are no poo bins anywhere. I make sure it's well attached though Grin. There's no way I'm having my dogs impressive output wafting inside the car!!!

Why did I never think to do that! Will from now on.

takeitandleaveit · 02/08/2022 20:54

Ace diagram OP Grin

YouOKHun · 02/08/2022 20:59

I have nothing to add about dog poo bags tied to cars (but have made a mental note to make sure I observe stopping distances very carefully if travelling behind). I just really want to congratulate you @CuttedUpDress on your spectacular diagram - you’ve gone to a lot of trouble and detail and if there was a Mumsnet gallery it should take pride of place there.

bangersandsmashhh · 02/08/2022 21:07

Were you following me? Don’t want it stinking the car out and don’t have a tow bar 😂

CuttedUpDress · 02/08/2022 21:14

Thanks.

Putting that D in art GCSE to good use 😆
