Heathrow arrivals - what's it like at the moment?

I have guests arriving from Australia later this week and I've ordered a cab to pick them up an hour after their flight lands as that's usually enough time to clear immigration and collect bags.

I've heard a lot about how crazy departures is atm with people having to show up 3 hours ahead of flights etc, but has anyone been through arrivals recently? Is it as busy as departures?

I went through arrivals at terminal 3 a couple of weeks ago. It was fine for us as we had carry on but the wait for the baggage reclaim was 1 hour 20 mins!!

Or was it 120 minutes? It was a long wait for baggage anyway!

This is very much dependent on which terminal and what time.

We arrived at 5 am on an international flight a couple of weeks ago, and the baggage area was pretty empty when it came to people ... but there was luggage piled up everywhere!

We thankfully had carry-on only so I'm not sure how long the wait would have been, but it also depends on the airline. Virgin, for example, has their own handlers, so things are generally not as bad, I hear. BA? A different story.

We were T3 too, btw.

Arrived in T2 yesterday, e-gates open and a 10 minute wait for baggage, out of the airport 40 minutes after landing
