I can see there's a direct train. Other options are flight to Manchester or Edinburgh and then drive... Had anybody done any of the options above?

I think you can fly from Newcastle to Cornwall. Probably expensive though.

My daughter and her boyfriend drove from Durham to Cornwall recently - they left super early (4.30/5.00am) and were in Cornwall before 2pm. Am not sure flight/drive or train would have been much quicker once you account for airport times etc

Yeah I think you can too, pretty sure there’s a flight Newquay - Newcastle.

There are no flights on Monday nor Wednesday (which is when I need to fly) second best option is Exeter

If you fly to Edinburgh you can get the train to Newcastle. Theres a bus stops at edinburgh airport and then goes to Waverly st train station. Theres tons of trains to Newcastle and it takes about hour and a half. If i couldnt fly direct thats how i would go.

I've got the direct train a few times. It's long but not too bad really. Not truly direct - change at Exeter I think (a nice breath of fresh air!)

Onlyrainbows · 01/08/2022 19:27

Yes, it's 8 hours or so. Coincidentally I'm planning on reading Dune

Either fly to Newquay or Exeter - then get a train. But if you need to get to somewhere awkward getting a bus from the station might be interesting

Also depends on what you're planning on what you're doing when down here. If you're planning on doing on lots of exploring then car might be better. Public transport isn't the most reliable thing down here

Mingling I need to go to Newcastle for work
