Lego land tips!

Taking DS (5) next Wednesday. Managed to get the tickets using my Clubcard so saved £80. This is a treat for him getting a great school report.

Questions:

Can I do it in a day? We're about 90 mins away and was going to set off at 6.30am ish in order to beat some of the queues.

I'm happy to pay for a Q Bot, are they worth it? DS is only five so probably not big enough for all the rides

Should we take waterproofs/swimming stuff?

What's the food like? Expensive? I'll obviously be laden down with snacks in case we're queueing but happy to get pizza or burgers of available.

Any others tips greatly received!!

Should we take waterproofs/swimming stuff? -yes, they have a lovely little splash zone and you can’t just send kids in in their underwear, they have signs up.

Why set off so early? It doesn’t open until 10am

Consider taking a packed lunch. The food options are pricey and pretty rubbish. There are lockers so you can leave bags rather than carrying around all day.

have a good look at the map, it will help you plan which rides to go on based on age. Queues can be long, if you don’t mind paying then it might be worth Q Bot so you can make the most of the day.

Turnstiles open at 9.30 and you can get into The Beginning area before the rest of the rides and attractions open at 10. You need to be pulling into the car park at about 9. If you’re there early, you can join the park opening ceremony at 9.50, or you can head as far back into the park as you can and get in the queue for the rides before anyone else makes it that far.
The website might say the park closes at 6pm peak, but a lot of the rides are still open way after that, provided you are in the queue in time.
Generally it's best to do the biggest rides in the first hour that the park is open, at lunchtime, or in the last hour that the park is open, as the queues tend to be the shortest at these times.
Yes take swimming stuff. There’s a toilet just around the corner from the Splash Zone next to Farmer Joe’s Chicken Shop which is perfect for getting changed.
The usual advice is to leave the wet rides until the end of the day so that you don’t have to walk around wet. We usually do this and have a spare change of clothes in the car, but if it’s a hot day I wouldn’t worry, and you could always use one of the family drier cubicles (costs £2).
Measure your ds’s height before you go and research ride restrictions.
Make sure you buy car parking in advance online.
The food outlets are always busy between 11 and 1. We take a picnic and eat while in a queue or watching a show. There are plenty of areas where you can flop on the grass and have a picnic, particularly around Miniland and there is a designated picnic area at the far end of the park in Adventure Land.
Download the app as it has live queue times. I would recommend bringing a power bank if you’ve got one.
If you’re planning on buying something from the gift shops, then visit earlier in the day as they get rammed at closing time. There’s a place that you can leave whatever you’ve bought and collect it as you leave.

My DH and DS have been today - the queues were long so if you can afford a qbot I'd get one. I would take a nice picnic lunch instead of buying food there. It's expensive and not that nice. Spend what you save in the shop!!

Definitely do your research before you go and find out what your DS can go on and plan a route/the order you'll do things in.

Splash park is great fun! A good way to break up the day so yes take swim stuff. If I remember there are hardly any changing rooms so if you've got something your DS can easily get changed under - take that with you.

Have fun!

A quick piece of advice, the Lego is NOT edible!!! Found this out the hard way :/

Start furthest away and work your way up the hill. It's easier to walk quickly down than get on the train - save the train for going up.
