I am really bad at gifts haha. I was thinking about buying my friend a bath set and taking them to a nice restaurant. Would this gift be ok? I am worried they will think it's a bit rubbish. Please could everyone tell me their opinions on this? thanks

What are your friend’s interests?

TeddyBeans · 01/08/2022 16:00

How old is your friend? Are they male or female? Do they have any interests? What's your budget?

justasmalltownmum · 01/08/2022 16:01

What are your friend’s interests?

video games, comics, and films. I asked him what he would like for his birthday and he said he isn't really sure

Why not get them a voucher? That way they can get something they like/want rather than you guessing and potentially getting it wrong. The meal sounds nice.
at the end of the day it’s the thought that counts and I’m sure they’ll be grateful no matter the present.

Does your friend actually have a bath/ like having them? Unless there's a particular one he/she likes I'd give the bath set a miss.
I've got a bday in a couple of days and would be very happy with dinner or dinner and a plant / flowers / alcohol.

26, male, he likes comics, films, and climbing/swimming. He also loves fancy restaurants which is why I thought it would be a good idea to take him to one.My budget is around £80 (I am a student atm)

In that case I'd either get a voucher related to gaming/comics/films, unless you know very specifically what he's into? Or maybe a meal and a film at the cinema if there's a new release he's said he'd like to see?

Unless that's too much like a date?

I once suggested to DB that he get a set of nice toiletries for a female friend he was struggling to think of a gift for. He replied that if someone got him that then he'd think they were telling him he smells. So there's that.

A voucher would be a good idea, but what could they voucher be for? I am really clueless at this. I thought about a clothes shopping vouches but I don't think he going clothes shopping too often

You can get odeon gift cards, as do cineworld. Just pick whichever one is closer or is more likely to be one he goes to. My h loves getting these.
