9 YO DC has blackheads – what to do?

I had terrible skin growing up but my DC thankfully seems to have my partner's good skin although she has a couple of prominent blackheads on her nose. She's not mentioned it to me but I notice it all the time and really want to squeeze them. Don't worry I am not going to! She'd scream if I tried. Just wondered what to do. Are salicylic acid cleansers okay to use on children? If so, which ones are a mild formula?

My 9yo was getting a few “blind” spots on her forehead, especially with all the suncream. She’s started using my Cetaphil facewash and it’s made a big difference.

By the way DD also has my DH’s skin, but sadly I don’t think that precludes her getting my acne since mine is hormonal!

Try a salycilic toner like the Paula's Choice 2% one that will be gentle and hopefully unblock the pores, just dab on the area with the clogged pores. Stay away from soap based cleansers as that will dry out the skin and prompt more oil production. I also think that upping omega three is supposed to be good for making sebum less sticky and likely to clog pores.

Does she was her face with a warm wash cloth twice a day? It makes a huge difference. Neutrogena black head remover is fantastic, it's a wash, don't use it on all of the face just the area with blackheads. Don't know what it had in it but it loosens them up and makes them come out .

Personally, I'd pin her down and squeeze them 😉

Thanks all! I do try to get her to wash her face with a warm cloth every day. I might just buy her and her brother a set of face cloths to get them into a good habit of washing properly. Some great suggestions of cleansers too. I'll have a look and try them out.
