Can anyone recommend a few places to eat in Birmingham City Centre? Never been before and can see so many places on trip advisor etc, but would like some recommendations. Thanks in advance!

Head to the Bullring and you are spoilt for choice! Its got all the brands and a really lovely restaurant in Selfridges. We have eaten all our meals there when we've been out but my favourite was Browns.

Also here to recommend dishoom.

Mailbox and Brindleyplace have some nice places too.

Run of the mill or special occasion?

CornedBeef451 · 01/08/2022 18:32

Depends what you like but my favourite is Topokki on Hurst Street for Korean food or Kyoto Grill opposite for all you can eat sushi and other dishes.

Browns near the Bull Ring is good for fancy ish pub food or Purnell's Bistro off Colmore Row for fancier food.

There is a really nice Indian Street food place near the back end of Snow Hill station called Indian Brewery, and next door there's Arch 13 at Connolly's that does really lovely cheese and charcuterie boards and really nice wine.

Me and DH love the cheese boards but the last two times we've been have been after bereavements so we accidentally took it in turns to tear up there so haven't been back for a while.

I'm really hungry now, hope you have a good time!

Rebelmcstreettuff · 01/08/2022 18:33

I love Brown's too.
What sort of vibe are you looking for?

Kite22 · 01/08/2022 18:35

Depends what you are after - a 'special' meal ? We have Michelin Starred restaurants.
A 'traditional Brummie feast' ? Has to be a Balti
General pub meal or chain restaurant ?
Somewhere to rest your feet when being a tourist ?
Are you coming in by train? Are you walking round ? Do you want to stay in the Centre ?

SleepingStandingUp · 01/08/2022 18:35

Mowgli I'm the train station. Gorgeous

Hawkmother · 01/08/2022 18:37

Sabai Sabai is my favourite - there are a few in Birmingham suburbs and one in central - gorgeous Thai food.

I'd probably head just the other side of the Symphony Hall then......go past the Bull / the Library / across Centenary Square and walk through the Symphony Hall and there are loads of pubs and chains there to choose from , by the canal.

Alternatively, walk through the Mailbox and out towards the back and there are lots of restaurants there.

If you like Chinese, then the Chinese Quarter is in the City Centre, not far from New Street Station

During the day a lot of people like the Edwardian Tea rooms in the Museum and Art Gallery, but they only do a more limited meals menu.

SpottyStripyDuvet · 02/08/2022 12:56

I like Bodega on Bennetts Hill although there is a new sausage place on the corner of Victoria Square that looks interesting.

Danikm151 · 02/08/2022 12:58

You’re spoilt for choice tbh. Loads of chains but google independent brum for other places. 🙂

mimbleandlittlemy · 02/08/2022 13:04

If daytime I really recommend Medicine:

Tiger Bites Pig - tiny place (no toilets), amazing bao buns
Indian Streatery - Indian street food
Meat Shack - cracking burgers
Otto - pizza
GupShup - awesome toasties
Tierra - tacos and Mexican small plates (amazing cocktail bar Ikigai above the pub opposite)
