My sons dad is not on the birth certificate, the reason being he smokes weed and is not responsible.
His mum. Is going to see a solicitor to gain access to my son, she is a alcoholic so does she have any rights.

No, she has no rights.

If your ex wants to see his son, he will have to go to court to prove paternity before he can do anything else. Then he will be able to apply for access rights (assuming it is proven that he is the father) but his mother can’t do anything.

As far as I know grandparents don't have automatic rights but a court can decide to award contact if they believe there was already a positive relationship and that its important that the child has contact with family.

Has the father expressed any interest in seeing his child?
