What does ‘pending’ mean on PayPal?

Possibly a stupid question but I’ve been paid for something I’m selling but it says ‘pending’. I’m not sure whether to post it or not. Do I need to wait until it’s cleared?

Pending means that PayPal is holding the funds - it's it the first thing you've sold or something valuable?

You still need to send it as the buyer has paid via PayPal, it'll stay pending for some time. The buyer can release it from their side by confirming they've received the item (if you add tracking etc which is always good to do), or PayPal will just release it automatically after a set number of days (if there's been no dispute) from memory I think it's 21.

I have sold on PayPal through eBay before but this is Facebook marketplace and I think I was worried in case was a scam. It’s not particularly valuable.

I have had payments that were pending that then failed.

They can always cancel the payment and send it again.
