TV buying help

DP wants a new tv and he has a big birthday coming up so I plan on getting him one.

He would like a 55 inch tv and watches the football and films.

Can anyone recommend what to look out for in a good tv? Prices vary so much from £300 to £3000! My budget would be around £800 but willing to pay more for an amazing tv that’s worth it.

I’ve always had Samsung tv’s but have heard good things about Hisense

We paid £599 around a year ago. It's great. Crisp with a colourful picture. Watching anything in 4k is fantastic.
The first thing we watched was a documentary about a diver who made friends with an octopus on Netflix. The scenes under the sea where so good, we thought we were in the ocean with him!
