Do I need to give shoes to funeral home?

MIL died a few days ago. I've been sorting out an outfit for her to give to the funeral home. She will be cremated, and there won't be an open coffin at any point

I have included skirt, top, cardigan, bra, pants and tights. Do I need to include a pair of shoes too? Thanks

No, shoes are not needed.

You don’t need to, it’s entirely up to you.
Sorry for your loss.

It’s totally up to you, I did as I wanted them to be fully dressed as if going out,, but there isn’t a “right” thing to do. The funeral directors will do what you wish. Sorry for your loss.

Hi OP, sorry for your loss. I'm a funeral arranger. You don't have to include shoes, and even less necessary if there are to be no chapel visits. If they're real leather we sometimes give them back before the coffin is sealed due to the fumes released by leather (due to the tanning process) when being cremated.

Do remember underwear though. You'd be surprised how many families don't remember undies.

'Do remember underwear though'

Have included underwear, it's in my OP

Thank you all

I put my mums slippers on. I wanted her to be comfy. Daft really, but she loved her slippers.

I like the idea of comfort

Same - we dressed my nana in some lovely soft socks and a soft nightie.

Sorry for your loss OP.

My dad wanted my mum dressed in a freshly laundered nightdress (I still remember breaking down as I ironed it before taking it into the funeral parlour) and the dressing gown she wore every evening as she felt the cold. I don't remember whether we took in her slippers but quite possibly.

Sorry for your loss 💐

We did that with my dad and my husband. Kids wanted them both to be comfortable.

We did with my Dad, and socks, he used to hate having cold feet..
