Help me please with jetlag

Its 4am where I live. Flew here yesterday from UK (easterly direction, 7 hours time difference). I have things to do today and all week so need to be back to normal as soon as possible. What can I do to help?

I slept on the plane, had dinner and went to sleep around midnight but can't get back to sleep now. Should I just get up? Or would it be better to lie here and keep trying?

Do you have melatonin? That always works for me.

You're meant to stick to the new schedule as much as possible so in theory you should go to be bed at about 10pm tonight but if you're wide awake it'll be pointless. If it was me, I'd go to sleep when I can tonight bit make sure I got up at 7/8am tomorrow. I once made the mistake of sleeping until midday with jet lag & it made it so much worse

Keep trying to sleep.
If you're in the UK tomorrow buy some Boots Sleepeze and take one before going to bed earlyish. That should sort you out.

So i should lie here in the dark until 7am ish?

Not in UK, back in home country now.

Keep trying to sleep until 7am where you are then get up & into the sunshine as much as possible. Lots of caffeine as soon as you need it, aim for 5pm before collapsing & ideally 8pm.

And sorry, no melatonin.

Melatonin. Not so easy to get in the U.K. but if you can where you are, try.

melatonin is the body’s natural sleep hormone. It helps to re-regulate you. Always worst for me going east and better going west (no idea why!)

Ok thanks lljkk. Will try my best.

I also have jet lag. I would just get up if you can't go back to sleep. You can't expect to totallly switch to a 7 hour time difference in 1 go.
