Do you close your curtains?

When you go on holiday do you shut all your curtains & blinds ?
My friend has gone away today and I've just driven past her house . All curtains shut . I've always thought the ideas is to not let any potential burglars know you're away ? Lights / radios on timers , some bedroom curtains closed etc her house looked decidedly empty . What do you do ?

what? no that would be silly...although I guess having them open all night is a bit of a giveaway too.

Well, funnily enough I had a conversation about this yesterday with DH when we left for long weekend away. He said if we keep them all fully open it looks odd at night, conversely if fully closed looks odd during the day. I sort of 3/4 shut them with a narrow gap in middle ( keeping the sun out during the day obviously!!)

The lady who comes to feed the cat, closes them in the evening and opens them in the morning and leaves on different lights. £15 a day. Worth every penny.

I close mine. But they’re closed anyway at the front of the house in the day, mostly.

I strongly recommend setting a lamp on timer so that it comes on at night, it helps to make thd house look occupied.

You can also buy a special flickering light which makes it look like a tv is on, if positioned correctly i.e. out of view
