Food poll: how many pieces of seafood makes a seafood linguine?

I love a good food fight on MN so a question fresh from my gastropub experience tonight.

Menu item was "catch of the day with seafood linguine". What is the minimum number of pieces of seafood should be included to qualify for the description "seafood linguine"?

I don't think it's as simple as the "9 pieces of scampi" rule for scampi and chips but I'd expect to find at least a handful of recognisable pieces of seafood on my plate. Otherwise you're looking at more of a "fish stock sauce" situation.

I don't eat seafood but as it's 'seafood' generic I'd expect at least 3 different bits of seafood. Otherwise they should say 'x and y linguine'.

Tricky because it depends on exactly what seafood it is... but I think I would be happy with 5 or 6 really decent sized prawns or scallops (or combo of both). Maybe 12 if they are small.

Clams, mussels, prawns at the very minimum. At least 3 of each.

I'd like two or three big juicy prawns, maybe three or four of the tiny scallops or two bigger ones, a few pieces of squid, and something else. Total maybe eight to twelve discrete seafood chunks, depending on size? I mean, if I ordered a piece of fish or a steak is be expecting about that much meat, so the fact it's small pieces and mixed with pasta shouldn't mean I get stiffed.

minimum 3 types, maybe 10-12 individual pieces? 4 of each type sounds reasonable depending on size but I'm not really sure!

Actually I've just read your OP properly. It sounds like maybe the linguine was an accompaniment to a piece of fish? In that case, I would expect more of a (creamy?) fish stock sauce with smaller pieces of seafood.

Fish:- two sorts , white and either smoked or salmon, prawns or shrimps, mussels, clams or cockles, crab, and maybe squid.. plus a seafood sauce made with shells ..

Oh yeah good point. As a side dish to a lump of fish, your expectations would have to be lower.

Not convinced I'd want seafood linguine as a side dish to fish.

I'd say a minimum of 3 varieties, and around a 1:3 ratio of seafood to linguini

As a main I would expect 20 pieces min and at least 3 different sorts!

A variety of answers from one 🤔 to 20. The actual number and type of seafood pieces in my seafood linguine was...... 4: two (smallish) mussels and 2 (very fat) prawns.

I was about to complain as it took me a while to find the second prawn and I felt 3 was a pisstake but then 4 felt just about acceptable...

The accompanying fish and sauce was delicious.
