I've been on anti depressants for years. Tapered off very slowly but my god headaches, hot flashes, memory loss! It's hard work but I want to be rid of this medications.

I tampered slowly out of citalopram (not the same thing) after one year and it was fine. I do remember my anxiety levels crawling up a bit but it was much preferable than feeling like a zombie all day! Had no issues weening my self out of it.

Do you need to come off it ? DH was told to stay on it for life.

CathyTheQueen · 30/07/2022 14:25

Yes I do want to come off. I'm worried about side effects of life long use too.

There is no evidence of long term use side effects. Are you tapering with the advice of a GP? Withdrawal isn't easy, anxiety can ramp right up, insomnia, a sensation of loss of feeling in your limbs.

It's normal. Not nice but normal. Do NOT do this on your own.

My gp supported. I think it's because I've been on them so long! I feel clearer without them. I've always had a high level of anxiety
