How do spiders know where to live ?

I have a little spider in my bedroom. He wanders between two spots - one is 3/4 of the way down a wall at the ceiling and he wanders into the corner on the other wall , stays there a few days then wanders back to the exact same place on the opposite wall.

How does he know where to stop? He's not very big and I'm leaving him be - but the fact he keeps going to the exact same spots has me fascinated.

No idea, but why do spiders always want to live in my car wing mirrors?
I have no feeling around spiders, will always help one out of the bath etc, but I get really annoyed they want to live in my car mirrors - I feel really guilty every-time I'm on the motorway, the noise must be horrendous!

Same @blackgreywhite I get really worried about my car spiders, and wonder if the left and right wing mirror ones know about each other!

They have eyes, and are good at measuring distance with them.

While driving I pulled the sun visor down and there was a gianormous spider under it. It proceeded to run around on the car interior roof getting too close for comfort. I had to abandon park the car and leave 18 month old sleeping ds, get out and call dh to come and get me 😳.

By the time he got there the spider couldn't be found. I drove his car home and then used his car for a month 🤣

I won't roll my windows down if there is a spider in residence in my wing mirrors!

I'm petrified of spiders and my greatest fear is I'll be driving and one will come down in front of me and I will crash and die.
I always check when I get in the car but you never know
That will certainly be the day that I meet my maker!
I need some treatment for it because my phobia is BAD

They're mad aren't they! I think spiders are pretty cool as long as they're not touching me.

I woke up the other night with a spider Infront of my face on the wall and woke up DP to swap sides with the guise of not being comfy 😂😂😂😂

I sometimes think this when I accidentally relocate an insect via my car. Like the fly is going “fuck! I only stopped here to lick these crumbs and now I’m frickin miles away”
Or does it think “ah well, guess I live here now” or is he/she worrying about a family back home.

Grin I think that too!
Especially as I live in a relatively rural area and often drive to London for work, I worry they will be freaked out by the lack of trees, but I guess they get all the chicken shops instead so maybe they are happier there?

Well - he's wandered the long way round and is now sat in the opposite corner of the room . He's tucked up right in the corner and he never walks any lower - always stays at ceiling height . He could have just walked across the back wall to get where he is but he took a detour right round the room with a 2 day stop off in the middle .
