Lens replacement

Has anyone had lens replacement / treatment ? I am considering it but have a few questions.

How bad were your eyes before and how good after? I wear vari focals at the moment and am wondering if it is effective. Was it painful? How long does the pain last and how soon could you drive etc?

I am considering having it done as I am horrendously short-sighted and have real difficulty seeing anything at a difference. A friend had it done recently and said it was life-changing. It only took a few minutes per eye and has made a huge difference to her. I think the recovery wasn't long. It is quite expensive which has slightly put me off.

Yes I don’t think it is cheap which is why I want to make sure I make the right decision. But I am
balancing the cost against the cost of new glasses and prescription sunglasses every couple of years and it compares favourably.
